Since 2008, Neptun has crafted glass-processing machines characterized by continuous enhancements. Consequently, in 2022 it partnered with Orchestra to upgrade its machines with digital solutions and support its customers’ transition toward Industry 4.0 and 5.0 standards.

“Since its launch in FY 2017, the Industry 4.0 Plan has continuously evolved—both in terms of technical requirements and tax benefits. The name changed over time: from Industry 4.0 Plan to Enterprise 4.0, and now to the Transition 5.0 Plan. Initially, the plan’s documentary complexity and depreciation-based tax benefits made it accessible only to large, structured firms. However, streamlined regulations and clearer guidelines now deliver immediate Income Statement benefits, opening the door to businesses of all sizes.

Neptun Srl was well-prepared. Its machines were already equipped with PLCs or PCs, suited for automated production with robots or Cartesian servos, and included remote assistance modules. Hence, adapting to Industry 4.0 requirements was relatively straightforward.Within months, the market saw a boom in suppliers offering 4.0-compliant machinery and tax advice. Unfortunately, some machine makers promoted interconnection without real PLC usage, and many so-called “consultants” lacked essential financial or technical know-how.

This was facilitated by the self-certification system for Capital Goods 4.0 tax credits (for taxable income under € 300,000). Regrettably, non-compliance placed the full liability on the purchaser—regardless of their awareness or intent.

At first, Neptun worked with consultants and firms sourced by clients. Then, a client introduced Orchestra Srl, which questioned whether one of our machines met 4.0 requirements. Surprised, we provided additional documentation and technical validation.
