ARTELINEA spa: the Industry 4.0 revolution in a small business specializing in bathroom furniture
2024

THE CHALLENGE
ARTELINEA S.p.A., based in Florence, has been producing bathroom furniture, LED mirrors, wall and floor tiles, opalite sinks, lighting, and accessories since 1962.
The company employs 60 people, including 35 in production, and operates through a sales network of agents and distributors. 80% of sales are international, while 20% are in Italy.
To improve production efficiency, ARTELINEA decided to expand and digitize its machine fleet, taking advantage of the tax incentives provided by the Italian Transition Plan 4.0.
Between 2020 and 2022, the company purchased and interconnected six BIESSE machines, marking the start of a new, fully digitized production model.
THE SOLUTION
To support this digital shift, ARTELINEA adopted BIESSE SMARTCONNECTION powered by RETUNER®, as its factory’s digital order management system.
This MES software, developed by Orchestra in collaboration with BIESSE, is designed specifically for small and medium-sized manufacturers in the glass and wood sectors.
It connects production operators on any device, allowing them to:
- track each stage of production,
- record work activities and machine stoppages,
- monitor production progress,
- report anomalies in real time.
As a result, the entire production process becomes more streamlined, transparent, and controllable.
BENEFITS
With the introduction of SMARTCONNECTION, ARTELINEA has seen significant improvements in production efficiency. Key benefits include:
- Enhanced job planning, thanks to real-time tracking of work progress.
- Precise measurement of processing times, enabling more accurate job estimates.
- Improved delivery scheduling, leading to better customer service.
- Stronger control and visibility over each phase of the production cycle.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
The solution has had a transformative impact on ARTELINEA’s operations.
“SMARTCONNECTION allows different company functions — such as the technical and administrative departments — to interface seamlessly.
It acts as a single platform for tracking production across multiple departments, including glass, stone, and wood.”
— Massimo Gobbini, Owner of ARTELINEA
